Five equipped, 300 claimed, 46 named in the demo

Steam about copy says you equip five spells at a time and that more than 300 spells exist in total, fed by race kits, class kits, and crafted spellbooks. Light Reading is the achievement for finding your first ruined spellbook. The live UI screenshot on archetypes shows Skill Tree and Spellbook tabs. The 46 named rows below are the wiki.gg demo table (Aetherfang Phalanx through Water Surge), kept as a historical switch rather than 46 URLs. Fireball, Fireburst, and Inferno sit in that demo fire cluster; they are not a claim that the live 300 are fully named.

Version

Live Steam copy equips five spells at a time from race kits, class kits, and crafted spellbooks, with more than 300 spells in the about text. The named 46-row table is the closed demo snapshot, not the live roster.

Mudtek’s Dynamic Spells devlog includes a Race Spells chapter. Race kits are one of the three feeders into the five-slot loadout, alongside class kits and crafted spellbooks. Demo rows tagged Race (Boulder Toss, Seismic Stampede, Tyrant Quake, Dragons Breath, Hail Of Arrows, Hunters Trap, Multi Strike, Wave Strike, Weapon Swap, Cornu Charge, Raging Vortex, Vehement Cleave) show how the closed demo labelled racial signatures. Live trees may have been rebuilt; use the chapter as orientation, not as a live tooltip dump.

The five-spell loadout on the live build

The about text is specific: equip five spells at a time. Those five come from race spells, class spells, and crafted spellbooks, not from a single global hotbar of 300 named icons. More than 300 spells is the size claim for the whole pool. Because Mudtek has not published that pool as a CSV, there is no first-party 300-name dump to turn into separate URLs. What you can do in Early Access is pick a 3x3 pairing, spend points on its tree, and keep five ready. The skill-tree still with 8 points spent is the UI proof that the tree and the spellbook are separate tabs.

Ruined spellbooks are a findable object: Light Reading unlocks when you find the first one. Crafting stations on the Sanctum (Workbench, Alchemy Table, Woodfire Stove) sit next to that loop rather than replacing it. Concentration appears on the campfire UI beside health and stamina, which implies at least some spells or meals spend a third resource, but the captured UI does not print a Concentration cost table. Do not treat demo effect strings such as Burning: 8 as live patch values.

The 46-name demo table, versioned on purpose

wiki.gg still publishes per-spell pages for a 46-name demo table. Elements in that dump include Aether, Decay, Earth, Fire, Heal, Ice, Nature, Physical, Poison, Rage, and Water. Effects mix damage types (Ether, Blunt, Fire, Ice, Thrust, Strike, Decay) with status numbers (Burning, Chill, Poison, Bleeding, Move Speed Down). Tags mark Damage, Race, Class, Support, Effect, and Attributes. Fireball, Fireburst, Inferno, Meteorite, and Dragons Breath cluster in Fire. Parry, Dash, Bash, and Weapon Swap sit in Physical. Frenzy lists a 50 percent attack speed boost.

This guide keeps that table behind a version switcher labelled Demo-era table. It is not the live 300. Competitors that cloned each demo name into its own URL freeze a closed build as if it were current. If you need a named example in running text, Fireball is a legitimate demo-era class fire spell, not a guarantee it remains on the Human Mage bar after 15 September. Switch back to the Early Access loadout note for what Steam actually claims today.

Race kits, class kits, and books

Character-creation news already showed pairing-specific magic: Elemental Ranger turns existing fire into single-target nukes; Earthshaker is the Minotaur Magician example used in co-op talk as a Burning engine. Those sentences are about kits feeding the five slots, not about a fourth resource. Shadow, the new EA class, is described as damage-over-time and debuffs, which will add another feeder once its tree is public as numbers. Until then the archetypes board is the pairing list, and the five-slot rule is the live loadout.

Crafted spellbooks are the third feeder. They are why Light Reading exists as an achievement and why the Spellbook tab exists on the tree screenshot. Combined with Tinkerer (first combat-item upgrade) and Permanent Edge (max a combat item), you have a gear-and-book loop that sits beside the five-spell bar rather than inside it. The magic-burst screenshot shows purple magic, a blue bird pet, and a fire cleave in the same fight, which is visual evidence that pets, melee, and spells overlap in a single encounter.

Watch the official spell devlog

Create MAGIC with Dynamic Spells is the Mudtek channel devlog bound to this route. Chapters include Race Spells and upgrading. Use the chapter buttons to reveal the matching note and to start the facade. The video is first-party, not a community recap. It predates or parallels the EA roster, so treat animations as system illustrations rather than a promise that every demo name still plays exactly that way.

If you came here from a competitor URL that lists 46 separate spell pages, stay on this one page. The 1.0 target of 48 archetypes will multiply trees, not justify 300 new slugs without a first-party dump. For stamina, dodge, block, and parry that gate those five spells, open combat. For the pairing that changes which kits you receive, open archetypes.

When to open the demo table

Stay on the Early Access loadout if you only need the five-slot rule and the 300-spell pool size. Open the demo table when you want a named historical row such as Fireball, Parry, Frenzy, or Dragons Breath.

Race-tagged demo rows (Boulder Toss, Hail Of Arrows, Cornu Charge) illustrate how racial signatures were labelled before 15 September. They are not a promise those tooltips still match the live tree.
